Thunder cracks, your mind spins like 'The Mask' and you're zapped to another place. Simultaneously, everything collapses inward. The death of a star, explosion impending.
Maniacal laughter; a guitar riffs somewhere unseen. Lights parade with acoustic rhythm. It’s all
figured out, the meaning of life. You’ve found it in the twilight
zone. A wind brushes your psyche. Things get turbulent. The wink of a T.V screen. You're nudged out, the gate seals. No one is there to reason with.
A moment later you're on solid ground again, in a vaguely familiar place. Light mist drifts about while elves and fairies prance in a network of illumination. A few wave you in, courting you like a pack of coyotes--vulpine smiles all. You kneel down as they float and stand in a half-moon while an unseen approaches obliquely. Wind brushes your shoulder and wham, back to reality with little memory. Just a sense of having had a true eureka moment sometime in another life, maybe in a dream.
Music that never stopped continues and you think about turning on the kettle.
